Building a long-range FPV drone on a 6S platform is all about balance — you need enough power to carry a payload and fight the wind, while keeping efficiency high enough to stay airborne for a long time. The motor is the single most important component in that equation.

1. Understand KV Rating for 6S
For a 6S LiPo battery (22.2V nominal), lower KV means more torque and efficiency, but less top-end RPM. For long-range cruising, you generally want a low-to-mid KV motor:
- 7-inch long-range: 1300KV – 1500KV
- 6-inch long-range: 1700KV – 1900KV
- Heavy-lift / payload: 380KV – 650KV
